What brought you to SPENGA? What's your favorite part?
I was looking to replace my workout with something more affordable that was also personalized and more well-rounded. My favorite part of the workout is the strength training, but spin challenges me the most. Overall, my favorite part is the people. The staff and instructors are the best thing SPENGA has to offer. They want the best for you; they encourage you; they work out with you; and they're your biggest fans!
What has your fitness journey looked like?
Oh man. When I was younger, I was quite active. I played softball and was in the marching band. I also used to swim a lot. As I got older, I had my moments of activity, but I let personal problems get in the way. The next thing I knew, I was pretty overweight and tired all the time. I wasn't motivated to change that... until I was. In January 2022, I hired a personal trainer, and in July 2022, I joined SPENGA. I can't believe the mental, emotional, and physical transformation.
What keeps you motivated? What are your goals?
Thinking about my husband and future keeps me motivated. I only have this one body, and I want it to be the best it can be for us. I know weight is just a number, but I want to reach a healthy weight for my body, have lean and toned muscles, sleep better, continue to increase my energy and flexibility, and learn to play tennis. My husband has been trying to get me out on the courts!
What words of encouragement would you give to someone just starting out?
Don't be afraid to ask for help or to ask questions. Most importantly, don't give up. There will be times when it's really hard, you're not seeing the results you want when you want to see them, you're tired, or all of it. Surround yourself with people who support you so if you get discouraged, they can encourage you and cheer you on. Take a deep breath, remind yourself why you're doing this, and keep going. It's worth it!
